How did this monster help save 4.5 million lives ?

After listening world monster, maybe we think about the few characters from comic books maybe more than few, but chances are there that, there is one name that come to our mind (Frankenstein).

Frankenstein or the modern Prometheus is written by Mary Shelley. Frankenstein tells the story of Victor Frankenstein a young scientist, who assembles the body parts and creates a sapient creature by uses of jolt of electricity to bring him to life in an unorthodox scientific experiment.

In 1700 when electricity was the subject fascination and science was testing its fact on human body . In the same era in 1780 the Luigi galvnani discovered that electric current caused the death frog legs twitch.

 later in 1803 galvani's nephew Giovanni aldin indicated the experiment on corpses of criminals ,in which shock of electricity to the head seemed the caused of  body to reanimate.

Mary heard about these experiments through the circular of writers and scientist friends, influencing her novel Frankenstein about the scientist obsessed with secrets of life.

▪How frankenstein sparked Earl Bakken's love of medical devices ?

Frankenstein published in 1818 and it considered both gothic horror and early science fiction . There are several retelling or continuing movies that explain the story of Frankenstein a madman with the love for electric has became ultimate warning of the science experiment gone wrong, but this tale of terror has been more than shocked audience . It may also have the sparking expression for the medical devices keep 4.5 millon people alive .

When the late (Medtronic) founder Earl Bakken first watched the horror movie Frankenstein in the 1930 it did more than just scare it inspired him, and later in 1957 Earl bakken invented first wearable battery power cardiac pace maker. 

It is a medical device that generates electrical impulses to correct the abnormal heart beats .

 Bakken said in his 1990 autobiography .

"What intrigued me the most as I sat through again and again was the creative spark of ,Dr Frankenstein electricity".

His company (Medtronic) have been created many pacemakers devices. It started with little spark of creativity from a boy watching his favourite (sci-fi).
